Hey everybody, it’s Mike.
We’re coming up to the end of a quarter, which means that you should be doing your planning for the next quarter.
Right now is the time to do it before the quarter starts. Set those clear goals, review how the last quarter went, decide what kind of changes that you need to make and get a good clear plan in place for the next quarter.
As you’re doing that, I want to remind you of one really, really powerful question. (I can’t remember who it came from so I can’t give them proper credit. So I apologize for that.)
But this question has been very memorable for me in my planning process and that’s to ask myself, “What is the one process that if I put it in place, would almost guarantee that I would achieve my goals?”
Setting the process to achieve goals
Let’s say that my goal is to get 10 new customers in the next quarter.
And if I am able to work backwards, in order to get 10 new customers I have to make a thousand phone calls.
The processes that I could put in place that would virtually guarantee my success and achieving that goal is to make sure that I have a process. For example, “The first thing that I do every single day when I get to the office is I make a minimum of x number of phone calls.”
So the great thing about this question is that it takes away the mystery of how you’re going to go accomplish this goal. it just gives you this very clear instruction,
Do this every single day at least x number of times, and you will achieve that goal.
I think that is all that we can hope for. That everything that we’re looking for is some sort of clear step by step that if I do these things, I’m going to hit the goal.
The next question to tackle is, “What’s the process that if I put in place, will virtually guarantee that I will achieve all my goals?”
All right, get to planning, and make it a great quarter.
